IMHO, it doesn't make any sense.
No more than changing any other plane stat.
Why not, then, giving all the same wings/fuselage/tail stat? So nimbler a/c's wouldn't be so at a disadvantage against faster ones.
And what about guns? And movemente charts?
Great idea! Let's put an option: "All Snipes with Bristol stats", so every munchkin can shine! 
I say again: it doesn't make any sense to me.
