Dear pilots,
I'm evaluating the idea, proposed many time in the forum, to give to all planes the same amount of fuel.
Now the question is: how much fuel ?
I'm thinking about adding a combo box in the creation page, where you can choose the starting fuel, with the following options:
default (as it is now) 30 gallons 40 gallons 50 gallons
Does it make sense ?

The only problem with fuel in the boardgame was cheating. We eliminated this in our monthly miniature game by removing fuel, replaced by 'number of turns before gliding'. So, a Fokker DVII has 30 turns to pick whatever maneuvers, then is basically out of fuel. I think the Camel we gave 45 or 50, can't remember off the top of my head. We just estimated number of turns in the air from the fuel boxes in the game. Anyways, it seems to be just as playable as before, plus we know now that a Spad XIII can't go screaming off into the sunset after Turn 45.
As far as this game, I don't see why you would take it out. It adds a lot of strategy to know you may have to conserve fuel to fulfill your mission. Also, it makes you think more about when and how to disengage from your enemy. This just happened to me in game 346923. I had every opportunity to chase down another opponent who had his engine shot out. However, I would have run out of fuel and been shot down by his fully powered wingman. I disengaged, got a good head of steam towards my side, and am now gliding home. Fortunately, I'm playing with a couple of chivalrous individuals. The powered wingman appeared to have lost speed 3 and 4 mans. but if he pursued me, he still would have gotten two parting shots before I exited the board which would have undoubtedly removed me from the immediate airspace. But in true to life form, he disengaged as well and is now escorting his disabled compatriot safely home. Now that's the way to play the game!
SALUTE to Skymule and mcbeth.
Anyways, Nick, please leave the fuel rules as they stand. If you want an option in game creation for even fuel, so be it, but please leave the current as default.
