I'm thinking about adding a combo box in the creation page, where you can choose the starting fuel, with the following options:
default (as it is now) 30 gallons 40 gallons 50 gallons
Does it make sense ? I am all for modifying the fuel rules, however, setting a fixed common value for the number of fuel boxes will, unfortunately, not solve anything. Rather, this would simply shift the fuel problem from primarily German aircraft to the aircraft which have higher fuel usage rates.
The option to use the "Standard Blue Max fuel values" (default) is good.
To determine the amount of fuel, I would suggest something different. Give a game creator the option to set the base number of turns in the game (about 10 to 30). Then give each aircraft in the game an amount of fuel equal to those turns times its average fuel usage plus a randomizer (about 1 to 6 as is done now). The "average fuel usage" would be the sum of the fuel values for all of the aircraft's maneuvers divided by the number of maneuvers.
This method would allow everyone to have the same number of turns of flight, if they flew at their average speed. Every aircraft would need to be fuel conscious, not just those with current low fuel values, and careful play would be rewarded with more turns of flying. |
