When I said "historically", I wanted to say as close as it could be, according to fuel tank capacity of the planes.
Blue Max/Les Ailes de la gloire/Canvas Eagles remains a wargame, or a boardgame dealing with historical facts, equipment, sides,... It's a very balanced game even if planes are different or if scenarios can be unbalanced.
So I'm not sure modifying the basic rules is a good thing. Once again, that's my own opinion and I don't force anybody to agree with me.
I'm more interrested in adding new planes (Fokker E III-IV, Nieuport 11, Aviatik, Roland CII, etc...) to the game, in adding ammos rules, different altitude levels (if it's technically possible), in playing aces with some advantages and skills, etc...etc... than in modifying the fundations of the rules.
For example, I "masterized" a Blue Max PBEM campaign with friends last year in the early period of the war (end of 1916) with new planes I designed myself. We really enjoyed it and I'll try again this experience in the future.
In conclusion, the idea to choose a unique level of fuel as an option in the scenarios can be a solution if it satisfies a big part of youplay.it players. But at least it should remain only an option that should be indicated in the created scenarios in order to inform players before joining them in. |
