Yes some planes could fly for hours, but typically, air fields are not just around the bend and it takes most of the fuel to get to and from the site of combat. Even in WWII fuel availability over the “target was limited” so I think Phil has that right.
The D.VII is a formidable foe, give it the same fuel as an S.E.5a and there is no contest. The problem with the mighty D.VII is it low fuel but if you check the stats I bet you will see the D.VII isn’t hurting all that bad. +385 in the S.E.5a Vs. Fokker D. VII, Trust me it doesn’t need any help
I would like to see a D.VII vs D.VII scenario, Hey if they can capture one of our Camels why can we capture a Fokker
