I was wondering if players would be interested in having the option (and I stress option) to equalise fuel when creating an engagement.
Oh wow. What a discussion this has been.
Discussions on english, and correcting english, and correcting correcting. I hope we can all be friends here, and if not, save it for that big blue thing with the great white hex thingies. You know my English is perfect but you can't tell because of my lousy typing. Bot thn ya dnt alwaise nood te git it riet ta git yur msg acroz.
Then we got onto damage chits, that was a good discussion which I'll post a separate thread on.
I've decided that Godwin's Revised Law is that the longer a thread is, the chance that someone mentions Godwin's Law approaches 1.
And there has been a lot of great talk about the fuel thingy too.
Perhaps the shocker for me was the mention that we could discuss this all we like but no one is ever going to change the site.
Is this true? Is there anyone in this thread who is a manager or developer of this site who can confirm it?
(You know, if it's just a matter of developer resources, I used to be a pretty good ASP developer. Happy to help out if you need.)
As for game length, here is an interesting story:
After the game that started this discussion, I found myself again in an allied plane on the tail of a german plane that I realised was making for the edge of the board with a lot of 2s and 9. Not wanting to shoot down yet another plane with an empty tank, I broke off to let them withdraw.
But then, after realising what I was doing, they turned around and headed back, one hex at a time. Since my own fuel was out by then, I thought what the heck and turned head on (let the dice decide I say).
We'll guess what, we got one shot at each other and the game ended with neither of us destroyed. It seems that there must be a rule to end the game once we all run out of fuel.
Now there is no rule in original BM that covers this, it's one side has escaped or been shot down only.
And thinking the arguments out more, if the germans wait for the allies to advance, the game will take longer, and if we just keep flying on empty tanks, the game could take a long time.
So here is my idea. The options could be "Use Fuel as Normal" and "Game Ends After A Number of Turns". To keep people guessing, you could have, game ends "20 to 25" turns, which is randomly determined in secret.
Or for us playing the board game, we could role to see if the game ends starting with the 20th turn. Roll 1d6+19 and if less than or equal the number of turns, then this is the last turn.
It's just another idea. Don't mean to upset anyone. Don't mean to blashphemy a great board game, site or bunch of players.
Even if they won't ever change the site at least we get the chance to talk. |
