I've been playing here for a long time and I can't belive I just notice this. There is an error in the plane charts. The number of tail boxes is incorrect for the SPAD XIII. There should be 5, not 6. The SPAD VII has 5, which is correct, but the SPAD XIII should also have 5 tail boxes. After all, both the SPAD VII and XIII did share (almost) the same tail design.
What do you mean "The Spad VII has 5, which is correct?"
I just checked Blue Max rules, 1st Edition, Blue Max for Miniatures (which might be called "Advanced Blue Max" or "3rd Edition," ) and Canvas Eagles (which might be called 4th Edition) and they all show 5 boxes for the Spad 7 and 6 boxes for the Spad 13.
If you are disputing the historical basis for 5 or 6 boxes, we can talk all night. I've always thought a plane they called "the flying brick" was probably under-strength in the game, rather than over-strength. If you see a Spad 7 and 13 separately, they look a lot alike, but if you see them side by side you'll see a lot of differences-- and including the tail. (By the way, later BM editions added another tail box to the Sopwiths and Nieuports with only 4 because 4 made them too weak-- as we see here.)
