I personally don't think so, as this possibility would force the advantaged side to close distances in order to avoid his opponent fleeing (as in real world); doing so he would surely have to risk to be raked, giving so his opponent some tactical advantage to compensate his inferiority and improving his possiblities to eventually win. As Sun Tzu said, if you want your enemy to accept the battle, you must give him some kind of advantage; otherwise, he simply will avoid until it better circumstances present themselves.

In regular public games it is bad etiquette to not fight and just sail around the map. You can fight and run if you can get away with it. As for league games, it is reasonable to play the game cautiously. Hence you station keeping hoping for the other player to charge you and you get few rakes out of it. Ok. And what if, knowing he would be raked, he decided not to charge and the five-turn limit passed? In such case both players would share the responsability for the double defeat, wouldn't they? Odei Yes, it sounds like it. If neither player is willing to close or shoot, then the game will end in ten turns by "mutual consent." Enjoy your WS&IM games here, but beware there are many bugs, especially in the "Basic" rules. The Gamemasters are all volunteers, so they fix things as they can from time to time when they have the time and the energy.
Thanks, Derek, I'm enjoying already. It's a pity that game programmers haven't still fixed the bugs, but they have given us the possibility of playing these games for free, and that is unvaluable. We can't demand them more... although fixing the bugs would be surely very appreciated. |
