Recently, I have been in a couple of games during which my only gun was destroyed. I stayed in the game to draw fire away from my wingmen, but this gave an easy 25 points to our opponents. In an open game do you prefer to play for points or kills? If kills are more important then perhaps having a wingman hang around to distract the enemy would make the game more enjoyable. If you are playing for points, I can see where a player might prefer that their wingmen who are eligible to "retire with honor" clear the skies to keep the easy 25 point bonus from going to the enemy. What do you think? It depends from the tactical situation. As long as your opponents are not aware of your problem, you distract them, after they've got that you have no guns they will stop minding you. Anyway, if you could leave with honor, there is no reason not to survive. In a league it is better to leave since you would decrease your opponents victory level. If you stay and you are shoot down they can get a strategical victory, if you leave with honor the best that they can obtain is a tactical: one less point to each of them. |
