If kills are more important then perhaps having a wingman hang around to distract the enemy would make the game more enjoyable. If you are playing for points, I can see where a player might prefer that their wingmen who are eligible to "retire with honor" clear the skies to keep the easy 25 point bonus from going to the enemy. What do you think? Many experienced players will ignore you altogether, for the time being, once it is seen you have no gun left. I would certainly focus on your wingman given the situation described. --- Message edited by Templars
I am definitely in the "play for kills" camp. I like to do more of a roleplay approach to the game, so first priority is usually my survival, second is friends survival, and third is kills. Points is normally not a factor to me unless campaign or tournament setting. If I were the one with no guns, I would hang around so long as I was not at great risk in doing so because: (1) not all enemy players may be aware that I have no guns and still behave as if I am a threat to them. (2) some of the enemy that realize I have no guns may chase after me instead of my friends. This can take pressure off them or even allow them to obtain a local numerical superiority. Or perhaps a friend will latch onto the tail of my pursuer and make him pay for his greediness! The key here is to not give the enemy any good shots at me[I would define a good shot as any range 0 or 1 shot or a non-deflection shot]. If I can't do that, it's time to leave! (3) In campaign or tournament games points can decide the winner. Since you get points for just flying around, you have to weigh the value of points you might get against the risk of being shot at or even shot down which would give points to the enemy. Also consider that you effectively give the enemy 1 point for each turn you are NOT there if you decide to exit. I would try to find a "safe" place near my board edge where I could exit quickly if I needed to and just hang out.
If it was an enemy that had no guns, I would normally ignore him since he is no longer a threat to me. However if the opportunity was there for a good shot, I'd go for it. In a campaign or tournament game, I may seek out an enemy with no guns or fuel because the points can help my side to get the win.
So overall, my advice would be to stay if you think you can do so without getting your butt shot down but otherwise you should try to exit. |
