| Message text I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "opposite." There's no question that allied flyers confused the Pfalz with a D7 in appearance.
There are a lot of questions about D7 speed, however. Search around and you'll see it described everything from "fast" to "not very fast but maneuverable." Part of the confusion is the many engines that were used on it. But only part.
I think the D7 has more widely varied reports than any other plane I've read about. In checking for this reply, I've found "fast in a dive" and "surprisingly NOT very fast in a dive." I don't know how to answer the disparity.
However, if speed reports for the D7 vary from under 110 to as high as 124 mph, reports on the Pfalz have a remarkable consistency of 106, 107 mph.
