| Message text The Canvas Eagles set offers the lewis with 2 guns, but the added weight means some changes in the maneuver chart-- it's not a big change in the game, there are just a couple things that the two gun version either can't do or can't do at the same cost in fuel points.
They did the same thing for a few other planes, like the very rare 2 gun Sopwith Pups or Hanroits... you get 2 guns, but at a cost in maneuver (which I think is a good thing).
BM system does have some significant holes or errors, a couple of which we have here. Having the SSD1 be a mirror of the N17 just isn't right-- while the Germans were copying the N17, it was a different engine and a heavier plane... performance not as good-- the Wings of War system rates the SSD1 more like a N-11, which I think is a good thing.
But the biggest mystery is making the Pfalz D12 a mirror of the Se5. While I can understand the error for the SSD1, this one is harder to grasp-- the Pfalz D12 was not really any faster than the D-3 or 3a. I checked quite a few sources and kept getting that same 103-106 top speed. Maneuverability is harder to rate, but if it was slow AND maneuvered like an Se5, it's hard to believe we would not have heard more unhappy remarks about it. |
