the random generator routine for rolling dices has started another big thread in the forum. Maybe the dice rolling routine is not perfect (we use the one provided by Microsoft ) but saying that the routine is faulty beacuse in a single game there were five 1s and no 6s is not the right way to test it.
Yesterday I played a miniature scenario with my son and we used real 6 side dices. In the game we rolled a LOT of dices and I keep track of all the rolls. The numbers of dice values rolled by me were: 38 1s 42 2s 57 3s 45 4s 29 5s 46 6s (average 3,4786)
While my son rolled: 36 1s 42 2s 51 3s 40 4s 51 5s 56 6s (average 3,7101)
So, what should I say...
The dices are faulty because we both did not rolled the same numbers of 1s, 2s... etc. etc. ? The dices are faulty because he rolled much better rolls than me ? The dices are faulty because I rolled almost twice 3s than 5s ?
Randomness is unpredictable and you'll never get a perfect 3.5 average!!
I can only say... alea iacta est
Have fun, Nick.
P.S. By the way my son killed all my miniatures and his vicious Goblins swarmed in my castle!
