Ahh back in the day I was part owner of a wargame's figure manufacturing company and did much of the figure design work. We also sold painted armies for which I received 10p per figure and new glasses - these days I have four different prescriptions depending on what I am doing - I wonder why....
As for the work you love or the work that pays - I spent years after we folded the company working in Finance and retired a few years ago at forty - these days I "work" as a photographer and graphic designer and absolutely love it.
As for pay - well I love the work so pay would be a bonus - especially as some of my clients take eighteen months to pay, and end up paying interest on the interest accrued on the invoices
These days I advise - go with what you love and if necessary get a second job to pay the mortgage.
As for you Phil - get a lawyer and tie up all rights on your game so tight that there can never be any confusion in the future so your family are assured of any financial return due to them. Wish I had done that with the figures I designed |
