Let's not confuse fair with sportsmanship. It is within the rules, so it is fair. However, it isn't really playing the game but gaming the system, and that just isn't very sportsmanlike at all.

There is no honor in being shot down, and there is nothing wrong with flying off the edge with no engine/guns/fuel. Honor works both ways, so the opponent trying to shoot down an unarmed plane is as dishonorable as flying off the edge when being pursued in such a situation. There's nothing wrong with doing either.
Fact is, though, that a player leaving the game with a plane that is still a viable threat is QUITTING a game. Personally, I avoid playing games with known quitters both in real life and here in the virtual world. |
