You are losing by 2 points in a two player game. The game has been pretty much even throughout. Both of your planes can fly longer but your opponet escapes and takes the win. It isnt about the shotdown it just isnt fair. Let's not confuse fair with sportsmanship. It is within the rules, so it is fair. However, it isn't really playing the game but gaming the system, and that just isn't very sportsmanlike at all.

This is how you can tell we don't care about the shotdown: When we don't have engine/fuel, not going off the side off the board and liimping towards home and honor. This usually results in being shotdown but we are trying for honor. There is no honor in being shot down, and there is nothing wrong with flying off the edge with no engine/guns/fuel. Honor works both ways, so the opponent trying to shoot down an unarmed plane is as dishonorable as flying off the edge when being pursued in such a situation. There's nothing wrong with doing either.
Fact is, though, that a player leaving the game with a plane that is still a viable threat is QUITTING a game. Personally, I avoid playing games with known quitters both in real life and here in the virtual world. |
