I think I figured it out. I was hit in a head to head with another single seat fighter. The damage pulled was one R (fire). The same turn the fire caused damage 1 B (2 Tail).

Yeah, that gets me sometimes. I always thought that fire damage started the turn after you received the chit not the same turn - sometimes it does and sometimes I don't notice.
