Because points are only halved when you exit from a "wrong side".
"Honourable exits" and "half points for wrong side" are two separate concepts, created in different times for different purposes (Honour was created for leagues, half-points was created before league existed I think).
So they do not apply necessarily together.
If you look at the "complete rules" here http://www.youplay.it/play/bm_GameRulesFull.asp you will see under "Escape":
A player is considered to have escaped if his plane flies off the edge of the playing surface behind his side's start line. (An aircraft may not fly off the edge anywhere else.)
Honor demands that a player not attempt to escape until he has a good reason for doing so.
Half points penalty somewhat takes care of the first part: you should only exit from your home side.
Honourable exits takes care of the second part, as it checks if you had a good reason to escape from your side. |
