I am afraid that I cannot agree with the E-Mail communication between team members. Such communication is clearly cheating. It was possible for ships to communicate with one another using visible signals (ie. flags), but such signals were visible to enemy ships as well and could be deciphered. Secret communication via E-Mail does not allow for the possiblility that your signals can be read and interperted by other players. I don't much care for stats when it comes to playing games, but seeing as how DCR has openly admited that he cheats by communicating in secret with his team mates, his stats for WSIM should be reset to 0 wins.
But that rule was in place by pbass111 and SirLindsley when they set up the Trident Cup which started in the beta site back in March 08. Therefore it is within the rule of Trident Cup to communicate whichever way we like. If there is another tournament by those guys or somebody else; we can re-open the discussion then. So far the Trident Cup is the ONLY tournament in WSIM that is comparable to the squadrons tourney in Blue Max. Until there is any other new arrangement; the rules we used in Trident Cup will be the de-facto official tournament rules in WSIM. Therefore if anybody do not like the way we communicate; just don't play in the Trident Cup.
By the way SteveMartin: Around 80% of my WSIM wins are from 1-vs-1 scenarios. I do not like multiplayer scenrios too much for WSIM and I only join some of them.
