I played one Star Trek campaign. I think the crew finally killed me. We were playing as Klingons. It was probably the most role playing, least gaming, campaign I ever played. I really don't remember what rule set we used to play it...
I have been in a MANY D&D games from the 70's into the 2000's. Used each new system as it came along. We did go back to 2nd edition from third edition for a while, but stuck with D20 when it released. My personal issues with D&D were the imbalance of the character classes from a gaming aspect, and the lack of choices during leveling and during combat. If your not playing a role playing intensive game, which my groups usually haven't, having a character that is weak in combat sucks. The D20 system helps a lot with that. I felt the character classes were evened out some. Many more choices in character development and play in combat. Like GURPS, D20 has many periods, universes to play in.
