I remember having a serie of 4-5 duel games against Bramley Bomber, where he got "pilot killed" or "plane exploded" in all of them... That was annoying, both for him and for me (although a little less).
I hate doing a frontal pass against a stalled plane, getting 1 and the opponent getting a 6.
I hate when getting a 6 with fired bonus + tail, the opponent only getting a 1, he survives and I draw a pilot killed or plane exploded...
I've had other days when I thought losing 1 gun was the only red chit I could get!
I remember once asking Gladiatore why he was creating only std games: he was fed up with these random aspects at that time...
So it's true, sometimes this can be very frustrating... May be this should encourage us in playing "more safely"... but it would also become more boring (victory only by points).
