Hi to all,
Think it over.

You are correct, however, in stating that players that don't play often enough simply lose interest and leave. I'm having the same problem trying to get friends playing.

If you really want to encourage newbies, you need to have a newbie workshop and tutorial or even a newbie league where newbies play newbies and learn together.

Jeff,
if you want newbies, you must give them games to play. If they don't see any movement, they don't pass again. Then, when the see that there is fun going on, they will find their way to experience.
But they must find some thing to play. While I'm writing you find that:
Cartagena: one open game
King Me!: 3 open games
VampiRing: 3 games opened by FineTurno
Wooden Ships & Iron Men: no open game
Blue Max: 11 game.
But for Blue Max it is only in the last days there are more games than usual, and that since someone has started to lobby for opening more free games.
If you want new players you must help them to learn how to find the fun.
