How many of those 1100 active players back in December 2007 are truly active? I define active as having 20 active games (or more) and make the same amount of moves per day as the number of pending games he/she has in any of the games on this site with the bulk of them are smaller (more active scenarios).
18 players games are generally so slow that you can be semi inactive with 1 move per week. I don't there were that many very active players. The very active players count is probably proportion to what it is today.
Although you may not aware, we lost some disgruntled players from WSIM due to bugs. WSIM have crippling scoring issues in Basic Rules and League scoring. [ ... ]
