The fact is that the number of new players for Blue Max doesn't compensate the ones that are leaving. As I told you, in December 2007 there were a couple short 1100 active players for Blue Max while now there are a couple more that 700. That's to say Blue Max lost from the 35% to the 40% of players. Think it over. More over, have a look at the forum: the rate of discussion has decreased a lot. In the last day there have been only ten messages. To see the problem you want to wait the site to fade out for lack of players?
How many of those 1100 active players back in December 2007 are truly active? I define active as having 20 active games (or more) and make the same amount of moves per day as the number of pending games he/she has in any of the games on this site with the bulk of them are smaller (more active scenarios). 18 players games are generally so slow that you can be semi inactive with 1 move per week. I don't there were that many very active players. The very active players count is probably proportion to what it is today.
Although you may not aware, we lost some disgruntled players from WSIM due to bugs. WSIM have crippling scoring issues in Basic Rules and League scoring. Nick (or someone) needs to get them fixed ASAP before moving on to new projects. There is no guarantee those disgruntled players will come back but at least the site can hang on to the players still playing. In contrary all we hear these days are new projects.
Even the Blue Max leagues can use some new "constructive" features like: Allow people to un-join. Minimal finished game of that type before joining. Team league where player can choose the teammates ahead of time.
