New releases are discussed from time to time and I was wondering what everyone's favorite war movie is. Focusing mainly on the 20th century I always enjoy "The Great Escape", "A Bridge Too Far", "Where eagles Dare".
I also enjoyed a fairly recent release called "Letters From Iwo Jima" which I thought was far better than "Flags of Our Fathers". In my opinion the best war movie ever made was Pursuit of the Graf Spee. It is about as factually correct as any war movie could be (including actually using one of the ships which was in the battle). For war movies which, while not exactly historically accurate, but which convey the "feel" of a man; Patton and The Gallant Hours. However, for my favorite war movie we would have to leave the 20th century for Gettysbury. |
