Dear pilots, there is a recent thread from mjk1964 complaining about the league scoring system ( http://www.youplay.it/play/forum_showmessage.asp?msgid=31167The system is explained in the League - How to play page, in the paragraph, Special scoring system - for team vs. team games ( http://www.youplay.it/play/tn_Rules.aspShould it be revised ? I think every one knows that there is not a single good solution and we do not want to totally rethink about it. But if you have any suggestion... this is the right thread for you !! Maybe we can reconsider the Draw conditions for games in which the number of planes are not equals in the two side (e.g. in a 2 vs. 1 game, as hilighted by mjk1964 is his thread). Please, share your opinion! Have fun, Nick. Ok Nick,
let me add my "2 cents" as says our American fellows.
At present you take 4 points for a Strategic victory, 3 for a Tactical, 2 points (and not ONE) for a Marginal victory and ZERO for a Draw. Personally I would correct the zero for a draw into a 1 since, mainly in tournaments where there are more than 2 and less than 8 players, a draw game should have its value (i.e. I must get something more than when I loose).
Second thing, I would not award anything for remaining on the field: should the german, with their lower endurance, stay to be shoot down? I think that the logic reply is no. With these observations we fixed some points.
The only point that remains open, for me, is if you should add some additional conditions for an honorably retirement after at least 50% of your wingmen have been shoot down or have retired. And this regards only the leagues where there are 6 or more players in each game, even in this case I would like to hears who wants to be allowed to retire in games with 4 players (2 vs 2). Provided we are in the case I've identified, we should consider only that games in which this happening artificially unbalance the game. This happens only when you have to deal with automovers and one can go automoving for two reasons: 1) he quits playing. 2) who created the league decides a to short time out period for slow players.
The first case is the one that you should consider correcting, the second one is a technical problem: if you establish a too short time out period (3 or 5 days), even one player taking a week of vacation unbalance and slows down the game.
Some possible solutions to the automoving players problems could be several: 1) eliminate the 3 days time out in the leagues, as it is for the standard games. 2) establish higher limits for entering a league (30 days from getting the mebership?) so as to reduce the number of quitting players.
At this point it is to you to see which work load would be required for such a modification and if it worth doing it.
