Go ahead and check out the following website, HexWar.com.

This site is dedicated to bringing old SPI games to life online. It is a pay site, except for the introductory game, Napolean at Waterloo, which is, by the way, a great game! I still own my copy of NAW, along with many other SPI games.
As for Panzer Leader, et al, I too owned Panzer Leader and Tobruk from Avalon Hill, but was unable to locate any players willing to play those two games, even though I belonged to a games club at the time. Those gamers preferred SPI games and D&D. Just recently sold my copies of Panzer Leader and Tobruk on eBay after owning them for 30 years.
Speaking of SPI games, I can't even begin to estimate how many times I played SPI's "War of the Ring," both at the table and PBeM. Always liked the tag team fight to the death at the Crack of Doom! Another favorite is SPI's "Freedom in the Galaxy." Own three copies of that particular game! Looking for a way to play that by email, but it may not be possible given the multiple drawing of cards and multiple decisions to be made by the opposing player during a turn. Great stuff, though. Takes about 20 hours to play the Campaign game.
Also, the Steve Jackson Microgames were fun, Rivits, Melee, Ogre, GEV, etc., and such classics as Rail Baron (AH game), Cosmic Encounters, Titan (AH), and Kingmaker (AH?). More recently, have gotten into RoboRally, Empire Builder, Settlers of Catan, Mare Nostrum, and others.
