Not exactly. If you are shot down, you lose 1 point, if you retire you do not lose it.

I know that german have less fuel than allied but consider that each player will fly the same number of time with each plane. So this german disadvantage will be equally distributed among all players and, at the end, will not influence the tournament result.

Maybe this is not clear: when you subscribe to a tournament you do NOT select any plane. The server will assign you all different planes in different games, so you'll have to use all the planes.
