One of the things I see quite often while waiting for a game to start is that the 'worst plane' is not picked until last.
I'm not really surprised by that
But I sometimes pick that plane because it's more of a challenge.
Unfortunately that does mean my ranking in terms of the 'old scoreboard' (http://youplay.it/play/bm_GameStats.asp do suffer unless I manage to perform above the expected result for that plane - at which point my 'old scoreboard' values remain roughly flat.
So if I do want to improve my 'old scoreboard' stats I can't pick games where only the worst planes are left.
I presume that affects a few other people too? I'll admit I am vain enough to wish to have shot down more enemy planes than have been shot out from under me - I made it to a positive score a while back, but I've been getting shot down a bit more since then
Anyway - I thought I'd suggest calculating a handicap rating for each plane in each scenario - much like the scenarios have a listing saying 'slight advantage to the Allies' (or whatever).
So for example if the pfaltz is always getting shot down in this example scenario it might have a handicap system that would give 'bonus' points for any pilot's score when they are flying that plane.
So for example if there are 4 planes in a scenario
and just picking numbers at random lets say the average results end up with points equal to
camel 1 50 camel 2 50 pfaltz 12 albatross 60
(or whatever the average score for those plane is in the scenario)
then I'm suggesting we set a handicap of -10 for the albatross and +38 for the pfaltz
Which would mean that if everyone else managed the average but you did 'better than average' you would get the 'yellow box of win'
(obviously that better than average result would then affect the average for the next game too - but I hope by now you see what I mean)
