Permitting "randoms", with their intentions that cannot be deciphered, can introduce more realistic war-like conditions. A certain "fog of war" is recreated by this little bit of chaos.

I definitely do not consider myself a veteran, but am very interested in dabbling in a campaign that is so easily accessible to everyone.
And, as Bluedragon says, you can restrict access to specific games, if you want.
