I have read and read about the whole "honor" debate regarding this little hexagon game. No one starts the game "defenseless" - if enemy fire has gotten you to a no engine status, well, don't let that happen next time.
This brings to mind the Dawn Patrol rules for kills. A plane without an engine counts as a "kill" for whoever shot it out. It was chivalrous not to shoot at gliders, as you scored no additional points (and the kill was already awarded). If a pilot developed a reputation for shooting gliders, the enemy would do the same thing to him in a later game (Head On fire is a lot deadlier in DP than in BM; as my first pilot can attest when he strafed a machine gun nest). |
