| Message text Whatever the default setting is, a person who does not know how things works is likely to use it-- because he does not really know the difference.
So if the site makes "advanced" the default to save a step for the requent players, it will mean that more newcomers get confused and disappointed as soon as they start.
Which means that I would vote "no" on this.
Does it really "hurt" so badly that we have to move a few elements on the game-starting window? Or that, once you pick your scenaroi, it takes 7 seconds to set, map size, advanced/standard/"semplified" and default or free set up?
I just don't see the problem in that.
If they were to change one thing in scenario creation, I would ask about, once you pick a scenario, when you have finished and want to start another scenario, it would be good if the process picked up where you just were-- in other words, if I pick a 9 player scenario, make my choices, and then click on "start a scenario" again, that I would be taken back to the 9 player page. With more people staring the same scenario mulitple times, so that they play all the different planes instead of just the best ones (and thank you to those who do this!), that would speed up the process.
Just my opinion about default settings. As for completely deleting the simplified setting, I think that is not good at all. Yes, I never use it-- unless I am talking with someone who just started and want to walk him through some things. Most "starters" just come in on their own and have to figure things out. The idea of a "beginners area" is great, and I know the webmasters say it is on their list of things to do. |
