There were a couple of computer games done which were similar called Achtung Spitefire - the RAF vs the Lutwaffle in the Battle of Britain, and Over The Reich - The Allied air forces bombing campaigns vs Germany. Both had single missions, campaigns and full war campaigns with medals and pilot experience. Spent a lot of hours playing both.
Both can probably still be found on abandonware sites, if you Google around for them.
Well worth the time, if you're a fan of such.
