some people dont like the "lucky hits" and there
is an option to not play with them
i think frankly that the "lucky hits" are
fairly important to the game as they most certainly DID happen
if you really want more realism...why not start
adding rules for reliability...such as the engine just stopping for no apparent reason, or
perhaps the wings come off during a maneuver,
maybe the control wires could snap and you must fly in one direction only...all of these things happened with alarming frequency and a lot of them resulted in death of the pilot...very real
but not much fun to play
i think what i am trying to say here...none of the ideas you presented are bad...perhaps you should write and debug the code for the changes you propose...the developers of the site already
have enough on their plates to devote time to new stuff like this

Pseudo code I can manage

I don't need to make the game more complex to enjoy it but I certainly play and enjoy lots of very complex games.
Realism is not a requirement either, in fact it often gets in the way of a good game mechanic

Keeping it simple is good.
Suggesting things that I'd like to try out in Blue Max if I had spare coding resources is a bit of fun - away from the very complex PBM game I design things for as a job.
