BlueMax is not like air combat at all. It is more like Chess. You make a move your opponenet makes a move. You then try and anticipate what move your opponent is going to make next. With the added variability of a dice roll included.

its rather an obvious statement the game is hardly what i would call a proper simulation of World War I air combat any more than Monopoly is a proper simulation of real estate speculation and trading
there is minimal handling of the multitude of variables of air to air combat and it seems that is what the designer had in mind...to create a "beer and pretzels" depiction of World War I aerial warfare
your comparison to Chess is perhaps not quite accurate in that moves are simultaneous but you are accurate that this is no simulation game |
