I have lived in Seattle since the Fall of 1988, and I have never seen anything like this here - the "Storm of '09" began as most Seattle storms do, with a LOT of media hype but very little follow-through

; Wednesday last week they closed all of the schools on the mere threat of bad weather and yet not a single drop of rain, nor single snow-flake, managed to land in the city proper.

But then it all changed, and we got 8 inches of snow on Thursday AND it did not melt away the very same day (as most Seattle snowfalls do). Since then there have been off and on snow flurries and the temperatures have stayed low enough to keep the white stuff on the ground.

We are now into day 8 of the storm of '09, and it is snowing heavily again!
We will have a rare white christmas

and what must be a record number of consecutive days with snow on the ground

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods

At start of 2008 I am in HangZhou, China. I have been to many part of china but didn't expect ice storm that found only in Canada will happened in HangZhouC which as roughly same attitude as washington. The green house effect can't be underestimated.
Take care

Take away the CO2 and you starve the plants that give off oxygen. What about the endangered plants of the world?
Time Magazine had a cover story on the 'upcoming Ice Age in the 1970s. Geologically, we are in between glacial cycles. Without Global warming, the Human Species wouldn't have had the past 12000 years to develop into our current civilization. Enjoy the warm weather while you can, folks, and pray for Global Warming.
The sheer arrogance of man to imagine that he can affect long-term climatic effects is astounding, but then to be expected when so many projects being funded to study the problem are financed by the Foundations making MONEY off of this hoax. Obviously, like racism, if it goes away there goes your source of funding.
Snow, Rain, Sleet, Ice.... simply harbingers of things to come. Snow? Don't believe in it myself---just an old wife's tale!
Bah, Humbug! It was 73F/23C degrees getting up this morning, partly sunny, but I'm tough! Gonna get up to 80F/29C later, and I can take off my winter gear. But, gotta run. Gotta feed the gators with some baby lambs I caught last week.
BTW, you'll see this in the Enquirer; I bagged Santa last night! Yeah, no chimney's down here, and coming in the front door I blew him away. So if he didn't make it to Washington State, you know why!
But thanks for the nice warm coat, Santa. Holes and all... Makes a great soft rug after I get it to the dry cleaner's.
Just thought I'd add my two cents worth... Derek, my heart is frozen, as you well know. I think Hubert has it worse, though. So far from salt water, you know it's GOT to be cold in Ontario.
I'll see you guys more when my older games are wrapped up, and the Powder Monkeys get off their butts and finish their TCC games! Slackers!
Merry
CHRISTmas, everyone! From the same old Politically Non-Correct American you've grown to know and hate.

(Thanks, Santa! Best Christmas gift I never got.)
Oh, yeah.. my English got a lot better recently!
Wow, was that fun this past year! My alter-ego.
