I have lived in Seattle since the Fall of 1988, and I have never seen anything like this here - the "Storm of '09" began as most Seattle storms do, with a LOT of media hype but very little follow-through

; Wednesday last week they closed all of the schools on the mere threat of bad weather and yet not a single drop of rain, nor single snow-flake, managed to land in the city proper.

But then it all changed, and we got 8 inches of snow on Thursday AND it did not melt away the very same day (as most Seattle snowfalls do). Since then there have been off and on snow flurries and the temperatures have stayed low enough to keep the white stuff on the ground.

We are now into day 8 of the storm of '09, and it is snowing heavily again!
We will have a rare white christmas

and what must be a record number of consecutive days with snow on the ground

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods
