Perhaps you have missed some points then. As I have repeatedly stated, I would like to know what is going to happen to the draw that was originally to have been a PK or Explosion chit. I don't think its too much to ask. You may not like the idea of the PK or the explosion possibility, but exist it did, remember please that the Red Baron was brought down with a PK chit, so the historical precedent is there and to render pilots and fuel tanks invulverable to damage is a GROSS over simplification. The elimination of such lucky hits (I prefer the term, CRITICAL hits) is going to lead to a simple counting of boxes when deciding on a course of action. I can understand that perhaps you like the idea of being invincible, most arcade games have that as an option and it does do the vanity good to crush your enemies, to see them driven before you and to hear the lamentation of their women. As for myself, I don't mind the occassional reminder that I am indeed a mortal and subject to mortal weaknesses.
I don't think my or Tornade's arguments are overly extreme, though perhaps they are not in tune with your thoughts. I don't appreciate to be labeled as an extremist simply because I do not share your enthusiasm for a profound change in the rules of a classic game. But maybe my view is just another extreme one.
The above post(in my opinion) is excellent. If you compared it to many of your previous posts, I think you would find that it appears much more considered, and less extreme in its appearance.
I thought I conceded the point of knowing the chit mix being valuable.
Go ahead and try to get 25 kills in a row in Blue Max, let alone 80, and you will see that both the arguments for, and against, the insta-kill chits have merit. I don't think we ever had anyone reach 20 kills with or without the chits in but we were probably to evenly matched. I assume it would be hard to have Tiger Woods like skills in a table top golf game, as the use of the brain and shear luck tend to diminish awesome physical prowess.
We probably don't see eye to eye. Since we are usually in general agreement, I would say it is probably just a style difference.
My statement of your arguments being extreme, I hope, does not make you an extremest. I also would hope that my moderate defense of the change neither makes me enthusiastic(though I would be if we had a campaign setting), nor desirous of invincibility, which wasn't even available with the two gun tail gunning F2.B from years back.
And of course, none of use appreciates being tagged anything less than "wow your great", and unfortunately neither you or me is all that good at disagreeing with someone without using loaded words. But hey, like you said, we are mortal, and I would add fallible.
Good luck in the skies. |
