I tend to agree, and will implement this simple calculation, but kill 'stealing' can sometimes skew this. There have been many games where I've done all the damage, only to have a teammate shoot down, or sink, the opponent. In WS&IM, unless you are part of the final salvo, you don't get any credit for the sinking.
I'm looking for a better overall rating system that includes many other factors. Overall points should be a factor. Depending on the game, damage done and rounds played should count for something.
Even the type of plane, or ship, and the scenario, might count for something. Not to mention what Derek posted about the quality of your opponent.
That's right. But IIRC it was the way kills were assigned in real life. Same for WS&IM.
IIRC rounds played and shots (table score, not dice rolls) are computed.
Regarding planes quality, a way I saw it computed (in Aces High) is giving every plane a score value. E.G. you get 15 pts for downing a Nieuport 17 and 35 for a Snipe. I can dig out those scores if you think you can use them.
As for enemies quality, maybe ranking could be used. E.G. Snoopy (rank #1024) gets a lot more points by downing Baron (rank#1) than the other way round.
(OTOH, that topic opens a whole new world: careers, pilot experience and skills, but that's another story ) |
