What do you think should go into creating a player rating? Obviously different ratings for each game, and perhaps an overall rating for those who play all games?
For instance, I think that the amount of damage done during a WS&IM game should contribute to your rating.
Note that I'm not suggesting game scoring should change, just an overall player rating as show on statistics pages.
Ideas? Let me know what you think.
Electro, This is an excellent idea! I don't have any ideas right now on how to do it, but I have noticed that since they implemented the new WS&IM stats, that both the new and the old stats became stagnant. They do not change no matter how many new games one plays. The only part of the League stats I do not like currently, is that after a period of time a player's older results are erased! For me the only way that should happen is if a player quits the site for over a year - something like that.
Also, no player should be rated in a game until they have completed a certain number of games (at least 10, maybe?). The old stats are too full of players who played 1 game and won, hence get the top rating of 100%.
Also, if a player does not play any particular game for a year, maybe then their ranking in that game would be suspended until they return and complete at least one more game.
There is an AREA rating system out there that ranks players of particular games, and it is done partly on the basis of "the quality of the opponent you beat" when figuring what a single win is worth. https://area.kww.us/area/G_WSM.html#W4423 That one links to WS&IM.
