Entry - The tournament is between any squadron registered on the Blue Max Squadron Page: http://www.chimpage.com/bluemax/squadrons.htmlSquadrons will be automatically entered into the league unless their squadron leader notifies me the opposite. Any new squadrons can still be created and enter, but they need to: a) Form a squadron that is permanent - not just for playing in the tournament, but for other occasional games against other squadrons - even if it is not that often (otherwise we'll end up with lots of squadrons that are inactive and it will confuse things) b) The squadron must have at least 3 members (including the squadron leader) c) To enter this tournament the Squadron must be set up by 2359(UTC/GMT) on 30th June 2006 and its name, the name of its squadron leader, and the name of its members, need to be e-mailed to shakeysquadron@chimpage.com before that deadline. Fair enough
Format - The tournament will be in a league format. All of the games will be variations of 3 vs 3 games, with Advanced rules, Default Placement, on a Small 10 x 8 board. There are over 20 games available in the 3 vs 3 format so there will be a good variety! To ensure fairness, all teams will play each other twice in each scenario "home and away". The games will be specific passworded games created by myself every saturday night(2 games per week) once the tournament starts (so that access is available at the weekend and during weekdays for anyone who plays at work ) As most squadrons have more than 3 members, it will be up to each squadron leader to select players for each match and ensure that their team register in time for the game.
For simple Admin, I suggest it is the squadron leader that create the game and email to their opp. team leader the password and cc to you the game no. and pwd. You don't need to create the game yourself.
Scoring - Scoring will be based solely on kills (yes, I know this is a little controversial). This is partly to keep things simple, but at the end of the day the biggest loss a squadron could ever face is to lose a pilot However, if a pilot is shot down in a game he will be ok to play in any other tournament game. So no score will be taken, only marked by Kill!? Great idea, sounds like Football match, so we encourage more on team play rather then heroism
The most team kills wins the match. If kills are equal, the game is drawn. Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw. Teams on the same points will be separated by "kill difference" like "goal difference" in football. If this is equal, then it goes down to highest kills etc as in football In this sense, It sounds like World Cup
Provisionally, 6 points will be deducted per game for any dishonourable behaviour/cheating (eg. if once a team has a kill, they all fly off the map without a valid reason like their engine being shot out, all their guns destroyed etc).
It is a very hard punishment.
If a passworded game is deleted because a team has not been able to have its members subscribe to the game, (eg. one team all sign up, but only 2 pilots from the other one do) then the game will be forfeited by that team and the points will be awarded to the other team...but not kills. If neither team manage to subscribe in time then I'm yet to decide whether the game will be "postponed" and created again the following week or whether both will get no points and the game is forfeited. Results - Once a game is complete, the results must be e-mailed by the teams' squadron leaders to me at shakeysquadron@chimpage.com (I at least need to know the game has finished). A special tournament page will be created, showing the week's fixtures, results and the league table. This will be accessible from the Squadron page after 1st July 2006. Phew! Think that's everything! If I've missed anything, or if there are any questions, feel free to ask them. Obviously, I won't be able to please everyone with the format but I've kept it simple on purpose. If I've made an obvious mistake or if I've not thought something through that you've spotted, let me know! Pilots, start your engines............ Thanks for your work. |
