I apologize if my comment above was taken the wrong way. I've always, back to the boardgame, been very fond of this game; thought it was well thought out, challenging, and at the same time quite easy to play. It saddened me when most of my old group drifted apart with the years and we just couldn't get enough together to have a good time with it.
I was delighted to have a friend direct me to this site, and really enjoy this as much as the BG.
Honestly, I enjoy the planning & execution of a good move #1 when I play. Admittedly, winning ranks a high 2nd.
I use the term "chess & machine guns" usually when trying to recuit new players because the game really is a little different from a lot of what is out there. Give them an impression of what the game's about, out maneuvering and out shooting your opponent.
So if my comment was misinterperted, again I apologize.
