| Message text This is something that comes up fairly frequently for me.
On the one hand, many players assume that you should never retire unless out of fuel or your engine is gone - and they can be quite vociferous in expressing their views!
On the other hand, quite a few pilots seem to just fly off because they don't like the odds or the situation.
Game-wise, I would agree with the first school of thought - it's like getting up and leaving in the middle of a game of chess because you've lost a knight.
But historically? When our planes are shot down, we just click the next game from our safe and warm rooms; things were obviously very different for real pilots!
Then again, what will your squadron think of you back at base if you leave them in the lurch whenever things get a bit tricky?
Lastly, there are those players who get a few pts ahead and then leave; clearly these people have some serious issues of self-worth - let's all hope they resolve them soon so they can actually enjoy playing games rather than trying to win at any cost.
