See, this is perception issue. You WANT to roll 6 shooting on stalling target. 
Even if you roll 1-6 equally, You DON'T remember when you roll 6, because you expecting devastating damage on stalling target.
But you will remember your 1's because you don't expect them.
Actually 1d6 dice is so small, that you can compare it with coin toss. Like, 50% chance of hit or miss.
 I've recorded my die rolls for the last 5 years on this site. To date my average is 2.3 and that is also my high with my lowest average being a 1.7. I've rolled 17 1's in a row. and 64 one's out of a hundred.
