It has a campaign option. The one thing this site needs is more players. It may seem cumbersome at first to players that are used to youplay.it Bluemax but the more you play the better it gets. Check it out you may like it. The site is fairly buggy if you ask me. The interface though functional is not smooth. Some of the top people from this site are over there. You will recognize the names.
Have been playing at Hexcell for a few months now and here's my take on it thus far...
Things I like:
1. Campaign play, with XP system and choice of skills to reflect better pilots. You do need to check the settings though, or you may not be happy with the replacement pilot rules/results. 2. You can step back thru previous turns to review moves and combat results.
Things I dislike:
1. Much much slower game play due to fewer players and not as active checking in - and no time-out option. 2. Fewer map options - 10x8's the largest option. 3. Fewer options for planes - none of the 1918 models available. 4. I've noted at least one plane has a different maneuver schedule than YPI's, so don't take you or your opponents options forgranted when first playing there. 5. Slow notification of games ready to proceed - once a day message. 6. Messaging system in game doesn't indicate new messages, so chat mostly ignored. 7. No control over bursts, so no jams. 8. Not much in the way of permanent player stat's. 9. Fewer deployment options - Only set up along your own baseline. 10. While you can freely choose the plane and paint job you want, though there aren't all that many options for each model. I prefer the plane art from BM used here at YPI myself. 11. You can't see the whole map in the UI, you have to scroll around. 12. Limited number of free pilot slots for campaign play, so those take a while to fill up.
The site is still under development and the author is considering ways to address some of the issues and concerns raised - which is another plus actually.
As mentioned, at least a few of our YPI regulars are flying there under the same names; perhaps others are hiding behind new monikers
Despite it's current shortcomings, I think it worth playing there for the campaign option and recommend folks give it look.
your mileage may vary,
