A little while ago I remember that someone said that it seemed unfair for players to choose to fight for both sides, and at that time we should choose one side or the other - to see how the campaign fought through.

Stuart (BMBug) and I have tried to do this and after seeing so many people with both pilots in the air have decided to also fight for both sides.

Those of you who did likewise may also wish to do the same.

Why penalise ourselves?

So for those of you who thought you were safe on the German side - sorry I'll be helping you out from now on.

It was me who made that post, but as you know grayghost, peopled chimed in and the format itself was not going to change (nor did I want it to or expect it to). What I thought might happen is some would just honor system fly one side or the other. That didn't happen either, and the Germans were way ahead. That led to another pilot creation for me, and I "had" been enjoying that.

That said, I think a campaign where players sign up on one side or the other, while using the same great method Bluedragon uses, would be fun, minus a few malcontents who are completely free "not to participate".

However, if I was in charge of such a campaign, there would be certain rules against harassing "any player" in game for making "any" legal move "in game". If you don't like that a guy exited for whatever reason, talk to the guy who wrote the code, and move forward with your hex-game life.

The problem here however would still be a few who would talk about this scenario being unfair for one side or the other - as if the air war itself in WWI - was always a split down the middle "fair" affair. In the end , who needs the hassle.

True - I've organised two competitions on here and they were both more hassle than they needed to be.

BMBug and I have very high standards of honour and do, at times, make the mistake of judging the actions of others by the standards we set ourselves.

Instead of saying that the move off the side is illegal all the site has to do is add an addendum to the rules stating that anyone who goes off the side of the playing area has elected to dive or climb away from the fight.

There ends all problems as you know it is permissible.

The fact that all games would then be played within three hex of the side – probably just makes it a more technically difficult game to play.

I’m going to try this addendum in my future games and will call Stuart and suggest the same to him.

Why don't you guys just relax and enjoy the Campaign? Nitpicking it and claiming it is "meaningless" or "unfair" for players to have pilots on both side is ridiculous, especially considering the hypocrisy of it.

How can you justify going against your principles and flying on both sides "to even things up" (btw, thank you SO MUCH for saving the Allies!) when you criticize people for complaining about scenarios being unfair or imbalanced?

How can you claim that adding verbiage to the rules allowing flying off the side will cause all games to be played at the sides of the map when it is legal now and the planes still fly at the center?

It is a game, and generally a fun one and has been generally enhanced with tournaments and campaigns like the current one. Why must you nitpick the rules for what they allow that you may not like. Set up your own campaigns with the rules the way you want them if you'd like, but BlueDragon has done a kickass job with this campaign and I think most people - although obviously from your posts, not all people - are enjoying it.

Just relax and play.
