The scenarios used at WBC worked well at WBC. The problem does seem to be that the scenarios used at the WBC lose balance when adapted to youplay. Youplay rules, even playing "basic" games, are very simplistic. The WBC used the complete set of Basic and Advanced rules (with some modifications) as published by Avalon Hill. The WBC scenarios were set up with these rules in mind. Different rules (like those used by youplay) would definitely affect the balance.
