2v2: The Shrewbury worked correctly for me. Johnny must have encountered a bug. In this scenario the French have a 1 table advantage initially. But, the advantage disappears at range 2. And, the British through the crew rating, gain the advantage IF the French guns are reduced to 6 or less. And, if using Basic Rules, the British have the advantage in melee. For example, see game 504111 using simplified rules, the British close, reduce guns and win.
Maybe we need to set up closer to each other. Currently the initial move may determine the outcome.
Here are the patterns I have seen so far: A. Both sides turn downwind in the first turn. Either you will have the battle line formed behind the lead ship or sail parallel. In this case the French will have the hit table advantage.
B. Both sides charge at each other. Advantage is negligible.
C. One side turn downwind while the other side charge straight ahead. The chargers will get raked big time and the lead ship will loose most riggings off the first line with the initial broadside.
I think we need to take care the guns advantage issue before worrying about boarding parties for a YouPlayIt WSIM scenarios. We have people playing Simplified rules which will never see any boarding action. Then we have Basic rules players that will avoid boarding action. Just to make things more complicated we have scenarios where each player control only 1 ship..... |
