Sorry I used to play Xiangqi when I am in college. But never do it any more, as it rules is too restricted compared with an even older variant (Weiqi) (for other who don't know it, it is the games played in the 'a beautiful mind (2001)' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0268978/ by John Nash and his colleagues friends.)
If you have played it, you will know the difference. And Weiqi illustrated the famous quote. "Simple is beautiful", it basic rules set is extremely simple that a 6 yr old kids can learn it. But the fun it derived can be enjoyed by anyone knows it for decades.
