This is a great idea! This way there is no worrying about how to program the scoring to correctly reflect captured ships that then get struck, or captured ships that then get re-captured back by their former coalition (or to a different coalition in the 3 countries scenario).
That way a French ship that is captured by the English and then struck by the French would count as a single set of victory points for the English. Whereas if the same captured ship manages to survive, it counts double at the final reconing.
Also, it rewards the opponent of the quitter who surrenders mid-battle; where currently the winner looses the opportunity to increase their score, which can have a detrimental impact, especially in League play.
Personally, I love the "drift" and would like to see it put in play even in the "Simplified" games. |
