| | Message text Earlier on in the forum my friends Moonglum01, Litehoof (I believe), & a few others made comment on interest in adding an RPG-(personal advancement)-aspect to the BM 'ranking' system. A stellar notion, but one that was sagely interjected on (by my sometimes mentor imdog) as too complex an idea to take any real priority in the foreseeable future. Sad but not suprising. It ain't MechWarrior after all. But how about this? A simple scaling system with the following formula: Games won=seniority, Games played=rank(?)-(or vice-a-versa). There should be no additional serverload as all the site moderators would need do is post a board/list of honorifics and thiere requirements. Then each member could compare his/her own/opponents stats to the "board" to see where they stand. Perhaps later the actual "titles" could be gradually added to YPI profiles starting w/ the most senior members & working down. Maybe a "board" could look something like this:
*Seniority(games won): ----------------------- 0-100=Rookie (as I find the word "noob" or "newbie" repugnant) 101-349=Pilot 350-749=Veteran 750-999=Grizzled veteran 1000+=Ace 1250+=Legendary Ace
-(just examples here)-
*Rank(games played): ---------------- 0-100=Ensign 101-349=2nd Lieut. 350-500=Lieut. 500-750=LT.Cmdr. ...and so on. I used U.S.Navy ranks because that's what I know "by heart", but I think it would be cool(and fair)to mix-up the "ranks" between the nationalities involved (U.S. Ensigns, German Feldwebels, U.K. Leftenants, French Capitains, etc.) So 2 'honorifics' would(eventually?) be attached to a profile(?)Using my old friend as an example again, it might read: "Lt.Cmdr. imdog, Grizzled Veteran". (sounds pretty good eh Park?) -Heck then during game creation we could write things like "Veterans only" or "No Aces please". There's my quarterly forum rant for this 90-day. Hope you enjoyed the book. Love FEN.
